Dexomethorphan

This antitussive drug is used to suppress coughs. It works by interfering with the brain?s signal to induce coughing.

Ketamine

This anesthetic can be given to human beings but is primarily used on animals in veterinarian offices or hospitals. An increasing number of individuals are consuming it to get high and to have hallucinogenic experiences. It has recently become a fairly popular club drug.

LSD

Synthesized by Dr. Albert Hofmann in 1963, LSD is amongst the most potent, popular and well known hallucinogens. It changes a person?s mood and sensory functions.

Mescaline

Derived from the peyote cactus plant, mescaline is a fairly well known hallucinogen. It is taken from the crowns of the cactuses, which are dried, then chewed. They might also be soaked in water and the liquid then consumed by the user.

Magic Mushrooms

Mushrooms are a popular and naturally occurring hallucinogenic. There are many different mushroom species which have psychedelic effects. These contain either psilocybin or psilocin. The effects of mushrooms on the user will vary. Some people will have a very strong, psychedelic experience. Others will not.

PCP

This hallucinogenic drug was initially created as an anesthetic. However, because of its side effects, it is no longer used for this purpose. It causes strong psychological effects, including anxiety, detachment and hallucinations.

Peyote

Throughout history, this cactus has been used by those in Mexico and some parts of the United States during religious ceremonies. It is naturally occurring but can also be synthesized or created. Mescaline is the most active ingredient in peyote and is responsible for its hallucinogenic effects
