Millions of people suffer from sex addiction. This type of addiction is one in which a person is unable to stop having sex, even when they know that it is wrong and/or risky. Individuals suffering from this sort of addiction may experience broken relationships, unplanned pregnancies and even sexual transmitted diseases. It is very important for sex addicts to get the help that they need in order to treat their problem.

A person who is a sex addict will have many sexual encounters, even with people they barely know.  It is not unheard of for these individuals to become intimate with people they have just met.  They may also have sex under conditions that are risky and dangerous. This may include having sex in places which are not safe, for example parks, parking lots, vehicles, etc. They might also engage in sexual acts without wearing condoms, leaving themselves susceptible to disease and unwanted pregnancies.

In summary, a sex addiction is a very serious thing. If it is allowed to go unchecked, a person can ruin their life. They will destroy important relationships, including marriages. If a person has children, they may be embarrassed and ashamed of their parent’s behavior. A lack of respect and sometimes even disdain from those in ones social circle may also develop. These are just the negative social aspects of the condition. There are also a number of physical risks. A person who is addicted to sex may catch a sexually transmitted disease, including those that are potentially fatal and incurable such as HIV and hepatitis C. Unplanned pregnancy is another risk that those with a sexual addiction assume while they are in the throes of the disease and also when they choose not to get help.
