In the state of Arkansas, marijuana, meth and cocaine are the drugs that are most problematic.  They are widely abused, readily available and constantly pose a threat to law enforcement agencies.

Cocaine, crack and in powder form, is used by individuals throughout the state. Crack cocaine use is largely concentrated in the inner cities of Arkansas, particularly in Hot Springs, Little Rock, El Dorado and Texarkana. However, individuals in suburban and rural areas are purchasing it as well. Its low price point and the ability to produce a very powerful high, make it attractive to some. Cocaine can be found in urban areas, but in other parts of the state as well. It is very heavily abused, even more so then methamphetamine.

Though heroin is available, it is not generally seen as a major threat.  Methamphetamine has however, been a growing problem in Arkansas for the last decade and rivals cocaine in popularity. It is produced locally and also manufactured and shipped in from Mexico, mostly from other distribution points in the U.S.

Club drugs such as LSD, GHB and ecstasy are available in Arkansas, ecstasy being the most popular. These drugs are primarily used at raves, parties, clubs and also on college campuses. Marijuana is another drug that is widely used in Arkansas.  It is mostly grown in Mexico and shipped into Arkansas. However, some marijuana is also cultivated and grown in-state, both indoors and outdoors. The climate in Arkansas is conducive for growing these types of crops.

Pharmaceutical drug abuse is a problem in Arkansas as it is in other parts of the United States.  Oxycontin, Vicodin and other derivatives of Oxycodone and Hydrocodone can be found in the state and are regularly abused.  Dialudid and Demerol are also commonly used for non-medical purposes. Doctor shopping, prescription forgery, theft and the internet are the ways that many people obtain pharmaceutical drugs for the purposes of abuse.
