A. Is marijuana really addicting? Yes, marijuana can be psychologically addicting, so much so that it takes control over a person’s life. People who develop a dependency on it may develop a number of problems. They include financial, relational and career related problems. Psychological addictions should not be underestimated. They can be very overwhelming and significantly and negatively impact a person’s life and those who love and care for them.  Those who suffer from an addiction to marijuana, may need to seek outside help. Drug rehabilitation can be a very helpful option.

B. Is marijuana dangerous? Contrary to popular belief, yes, marijuana does pose dangers to those that smoke it. Marijuana use puts individuals at increased risk for a number of cancers. It also negatively affects the hormones, reducing sperm production in males. Users may also develop serious and potentially dangerous mental disorders. Cognitive thinking and memory may also be impaired.

C. Why isn’t marijuana legal? This is a pretty loaded question. Marijuana may be illegal for numerous reasons. Some lawmakers may believe that it is inherently bad. Others may hold that the dangers of using it are too great to make it available to the public. Individuals that smoke a lot of marijuana are at risk of developing mental disorders, cancer, memory and cognitive problems. Its use may also impair individuals from being able to function normally and safely in public.

D. Can I die from smoking too much marijuana? There has never been a death reported due to smoking too much marijuana.

E. Does marijuana use cause mental problems? Yes, marijuana use does cause mental problems in some users. Individuals that consume a lot of marijuana or who have used it for a long time may end up having bouts of schizophrenia, depression and psychosis. The jury is out concerning what causes these conditions and what the connection is between the development of them and marijuana. Not everyone that is a chronic user of marijuana will suffer from mental disorders, but some will. It has been suggested that perhaps people who are already susceptible to them are the ones that eventually end up having problems.
